20 Hands-On Activities for After a Break

2 weeks of hands-on activities designed for either at home or in the classroom. Using what you have on hand and getting students back into the swing of intentional activities. I have compiled a list of 20 hands-on activities that you could share with families and add to your own lesson plans in the next few weeks. I’m all about intentional learning, with little to no prep. As a result, you can take the stress out of hands-on learning.

Activity Ideas for Prek, TK and Homeschool

1. Draw a picture of the moon or weather for the next 10 days. Graph the changes and similarities
2. Draw a picture about a story you heard- add words
3. Create a pattern with items around your home- take a picture and send it to your teacher
4. Create a science journal
5. Draw a picture of 3 different plants you see around your house/classroom-label the plants
6. Label and draw a picture of 3 different trees you see around your home/classroom
7. Draw a picture of 3 insects-label them
8. Create a map of the outside of your house/classroom and then label the parts
9. Draw a map of your community- your home to school to the store to the park, etc. label the parts
10. Create a picture of 3 houses you see in your neighborhood/classrooms in your school and then label them
11. Ask the children to draw a picture of you reading a favorite book, write the title of the book
12. Draw a picture of 5 things that start with the letter _______(fill in the blank) Label the items
13. Create an ABC maze, connect the letters
14. Record how many of each item you have in your house or classroom (knives, forks, spoons, cups, plates, doors, windows, lights, chairs, doorknobs, etc).
15. Create a graph with the numbers from your recordings. Which item has the most/least/equal
16. Write the room- find 10 letters/words around your home/classroom and record them in your journal
17. Practice writing your name/address/birthdate/names of family/pets/etc and then share with an adult
18. Make playdoh, and measure the ingredients for math-inspired lessons, as a result, you can use the dough for a sensory activity too
19. Use the playdoh to create numbers and letters, 1-1 correspondence activities, and as a sensory play material
20. Use scissors to cut strips of paper, and attach paper together to make a chain. Measure items in your home/classroom using the chain. (Nonstandard measurement)
